San Diego Homeless News
May 2013 - Published by San Diego's 265,000 Homeless, 40,000 Unhoused, and 1.6 Million Nearly-Homeless* *(Official HUD Statistic for what THEY call San Diego's "Cost Burdened")
End Wealth Apartheid & Anti-Poverty Nazi Racism
"Being homeless is a lot like being in a zoo, and you're the exhibit."
"Religion: Together we can find the cure."
Labor Unions are bad, but necessary in a repressive town like San Diego.
Treat the homeless with dignity and respect, and lose your funding.

Once there was a man who had cancer. His HMO refused to treat it, because that would be too expensive. So, he asked the government for help, and they gave him a bandage to put over it, so no one would notice. He then asked the nonprofits for help, and they gave him a cookie to make him feel better. This is how society treats its problem of homelessness. • Frank Jehovah, of the Jehovah's Witnesses Real Estate Company, said "Come to our Bible Study and buy a condo!" He said, "God sends people straight to hell if they don't own a condo, so see our pastor about buying one right away! You can pay for it the rest of your life!"

Transition to Baseball Peaceful!
Homeless, Fans, Tourists all Friendly
May be because winter shelter is still open
The Winter Shelter is still open, due to work by Mayor Bob Filner, and this has recently registered its latest benefit: Peace between the homeless and the baseball fans. Keep up the good work! Many of the homeless were also seen laughing with the tourists, both having a good time. How often do you see news like that?
Meetings - Read It Here!
MAPSS, ERG, GTT, HAT
Nobody can be at all of them they would like to!
The MAPSS (Metropolitan Area Providers of Social Services) met April 24 and was well-attended. I planned for a maximum of 28, the number of flyers I printed, and got 27 in attendance. I was the guest speaker, and cover that later. ♦ TACO, the Third Avenue Charitable Organization of the First Lutheran Church on 3rd and Ash, downtown, will be having a fundraiser Sun. May 11, 11 AM to 1 PM at the La Jolla United Methodist Church, 6063 La Jolla Blvd. ♦ Mayor Bob Filner's new city budget would operate the rubber tent shelter all year, if the City Council approves. ♦ Speakers sought on these topics: Cheap housing, crisis management, sex offender issues and options, homeless family options. ♦ Emergency Housing options under FEMA expire May 31. ♦ Ed Morgan, of the First Presbyterian Church, has been dead for years but is still somehow listed in the roster of MAPSS. He will be deleted from our web roster. ♦ Today's presentation, given by myself, John Kitchin, is on the Homeless Advocacy Team (HAT), Homeless Intellectuals Program (HIP) and our website, www.NZ9F.com. I pointed out ten things that MAPSS can benefit from in relation to our website. The website’s usefulness to MAPSS is as follows:
- Orientation 3 courses in the homeless situation in San Diego and in general. Perspectives of the homeless. The Water Man police brutality trial, etc.
- Education Things not taught in college that ought to be. Deals with drugs, mental health, and even Spirituality, which I class as a drug.
- Meetings Learn what happened in other groups, or even here if you cannot attend.
- Other News Most news for our groups is not considered important enough for the Union-Tribune, but may be in the blog or Homeless News.
- Indices (Indexes) Group lists, participator lists, emails, phone numbers, and description of agencies. See NZ9F.com/MAPSS.
- Anchors to the Search Engines.
- Emergency notifications via Twitter.
- Perspectives to communicate better with clients via greater understanding. My blog, for example, goes back several years.
- Resources Food Pages (B and F), Shelters, Healthcare, toilets, farmers markets, credit unions, photoshop, libraries, help with Word documents, volunteer guidelines both for individuals and groups, criteria on how to find and rate the best (and worst) nonprofits as to effectiveness, and college courses.
- Political Action The San Diego Homeless have 2 gnostic groups, a political party, organized protest affiliates, flash-mob capabilities, and many secret underground connections with politics. We are extremely powerful politically, and you may need that someday.
MAPSS also has, in addition to its Search Engine Page at NZ9F.com/MAPSS, an intro page at NZ9F.com/MAPSS/Orientation, and a secret listing on a secret web page of all the participants and their addresses and telephone numbers. If you need this information, they can give you the secret web address. Or, not. Since orientation for any other organization to use this website would be the same as for MAPSS to do so, you may want to try reading NZ9F.com/MAPSS/Orientation to get a better understanding.
Our Homeless Advocacy Team also played a major role in disciplining renegade police, encouraging 2,000 homeless to move here and vote, and we made sure the elections were fair by insisting upon intensive monitoring by many undercover agents. Score a victory for Marty Block, Bob Filner, Marti Emerald, and others. (Inside note that recent publicity produced over 300 thousand hits on our chain of websites, worldwide. Crashed the US site twice.)
The Girls Think Tank (GTT) met May 2, and is holding a fund-raising event on May 11, at the Museum of Man in Balboa Park. For tickets, go to GirlsThinkTank.Org. Volunteers are also needed. Information was also presented that the City Council will be holding debates on its City Budget all this week.
HAT, the Homeless Advocacy Team^^met Monday, May 6, and discussed whether or not to become a Nonprofit Organization. Many more reasons were presented in favor of not becoming one than becoming one. See the discussion on HAT Page, NZ9F.com/HAT. Discussion also centered on the City Budget and what we need, such as bus passes, more library hours for internet access, more park and recreation hours, and the Homeless Issues are due to be discussed on Thursday, May 9. For the budget, the web address is sandiego.gov/fm/proposed/index.shtml and for the rest, visit the link for the Budget Committee:
Budget Review Committee Meeting
ERG, the Emergency Resources Group^^met Tuesday, May 7, and reminded everyone that Sat., May 11, is Postal Workers Food Collection Day. ♦ Emergency food and shelter programs (EFSP) end May 31. Phase 31 is meeting to establish a board on Thursday at 9:15 AM, before their regular meeting. They are required to have United Way, Red Cross, The Jewish Federation, the National Council of Churches, Catholic Charities, and at least one head of local government on this board. They also have tribal council representatives. ♦ The rest of the meeting was a Case Management course, taught by Deb Mitchell of Presbyterian Urban Ministries (PUM). It will be featured on-line on this website, in the future.
Considering Suicide?
Web Page May Be Helpful
www.NZ9F.com/Suicide has been updated
The Suicide Page, which does not take the usual approach of lies, smoke, and mirrors, gives you a clear picture of whether or not same would be best for you, and also what the consequences are. A quick but courageous way out, very few have enough guts to do it. And, most who attempt it are just looking for help. Unfortunately, society does not provide any help, just imprisonment, medication, electric shocks, and other torture. Sad. Someday there will be help for those who need it, not just Jesus, religion, and other bullshit.
Smoking A Pandemic
No, "Pandemic" is not a new brand of cigarettes
Your tax money down the drain for illnesses caused
Long after the restaurants, public buildings, and even jails have outlawed tobacco, the Mental Health and other treatment institutions still permit it. Many actually encourage smoking, because it makes the inmates ("clients") easier to control and brainwash. First used by the Native Americans for religious purposes only, use of tobacco spread to England and Europe, becoming an important economic source to the colonies and later the South.
Television ads in the 1950s touted smoking for its health benefits, saying it toughens your lungs and promotes great health. Most of their spokespersons died of lung cancer. Today, the truth finally being told, there are more and more restrictions being placed upon where people can smoke. The City of El Cajon prohibits smoking on ALL public property.
The homeless and poor have been encouraged to light up, unfortunately, and nicotine is a tougher addiction to overcome than cocaine. This draws public health resources because the poor and homeless have no other source for treatment of smoking-related illnesses. And, there is still a de-facto market selling stolen and smuggled cigarettes via vendors in motion (walking and on bicycles) at 14th and Imperial Ave. in downtown San Diego.
